What are the stats on your shield? -2 damage in stance (what I use) will help a lot.

I tried a few times tonight, the only problems i had were having skales sneak up on me in the middle of spider bashing in the beach area >.<
they pretty much ended my fun early -.- i never made it past the tunnel opening after 6-7 failures
regardless of my bad luck, i understand the technique and im posting a little map. <---better at looking at pictures than words.
I forgot where i got the original map from, but this is helpful because you get a better sense of the whole setup.
Ive highlighted that big mountain that you must go around to evade those patrols coming up from the beach entrance.
Also pointed out where you meet the first doubter/driftwood set. The positioning there is crucial because too far in and you aggro skales, too far out and you aggro the patrol.
The "safe" spots are where i pulled the driftwood and dryders too, albeit 1 mob at a time to kill them. maybe not so safe since the skales keep getting me >.>;;

Am i the only one who has been experiencing that at the first driftwood point there is a patrol coming back towards the beach? I got killed by them the first time, but ive learned to go down to the dryder and the patrol will turn back..

I didnt want to post on this thread because I wish it would die so that this doesnt get nerfed. But hopefully this can help with some people so that others stop posting.
BIG CREDIT to Racthoh for this AWESOME idea!
I use glads armor with an Ascalon helm. I do have SUp. Abs and Vigor but I dont think its necesarry. I use an axe +15% while enchanted armor +5, and Malinons shield because when fighting spiders you will always be enchanted.
My variation of this AWESOME build is for axe warriors (I have more axes to choose from so I went with this)
Skills
Desparation Blow (PWNS whith Dolyak singet, it just simpy obliterates the enemy with such high tactics)
Cleave
Penetrating attack
Sprint
Healing Sig
Dolyak Sig
Watch Yourself
Watchful Spirit
Watchful spirit should only be on when you are fighting just the spiders. It reduces your degen so you dont have to spam healing sig and you can take them out quicker. Follow the map that somone posted (Nice map by the way) and you should always remember to take watchful spirit off when you clear spiders and go for the dryders.
This is not passive griffon farming, there is a lot going on here. You dont just stand there and let the enemies kill themeselves, you must pay close attention to the aggro map, your health, skills used by enemies, and most importantly simply knowing when to run away. You should not be dying once you get to the spiders, just run away if you think you are in danger.
I died my first 2 attempts because I didnt have the awesome map available and didnt know exactly where to go, but figured it out on attempt #3. I also died once while fighting spiders, I aggroed a Dryder and didnt run. You should ONLY be fighting one type of monster at a time. Otherwise you will not be able to keep your health up.
I am begging people to stop posting now, you have a video, and a map, and several builds to try. If you still cant get it done PM someone that posted, I am sure they would be more than happy to give you pointers or take you on a run. I think this is a great reference guid and an asset to everyone who reads this thread. I just dont want to see this get nerfed by patroling skales or fewer drops, etc.
Start a new thread if you want to flame me call it "Axe sucks and is a NOOB"

i think its pretty nerfed already, i get pretty lame drops and the chests have given me nothin but purple items.
But yes, i LOVE this. Its exhilirating!!!! I love watching the aggro bubble as im hacking away and feeling a rush of excited at possibly getting caught by...which is in all terms fatal. XD

first of all thanks Racthoh, great build great spot.
To Lyra I think this is like any other farming spot, if you keep going back over and over the quality of drops will degenerate. So taking a break and going some place else for a while is probably a good idea.
I was giving this a try yesterday and I couldn't help but laugh at all the solo warriors I saw going into FoW. I've done it about three times at a cost of 3p and died all three times by nasty skale attack. But I have also scored three Shards just from fighting the driftwoods, so I can show a profit. I will keep working on it and I am sure I will get to the tunnel next run...I hope :P

That is an excellent map Lyra, thanks for the contribution. It really does show the path quite well and is a lot better than the two screenshots I posted on the radar.
I just need to ask a general question, when you say you're getting kill by the skales, what exactly do you mean? If you're stopping to kill them, well I can tell where the error is without even going down with you myself.
Typically, two snarling patrols will be up by the entrance path to the beach. You'll kill one with the dryder, and another will come shortly after. You'll have to pull this one with your bow. If you get hit with a hamstring, even though it only lasts for 3 seconds, you can very easily die.
Where I posted about the second stop spot, don't expect it to work 100% of the time. The last few times I've shown the path to fellow players, I've had to the hug the other wall, and circle around the coast. Also when you're running, try as hard as possible not to aggro any dryders. You can't stop running, and they can usually get two Wastrel's Worry against you in that time. That amounts to over 100 damage, on top of a possible Life Transfer and Life Siphon and however many times the Ancient Skales attacked you. I have died under similar circumstances, and have learned that a few extra seconds to scan the wandering patterns can save you that platinum.
If it gets nerfed, so be it. I won't mind, and I hope no one else does. Had I not shared it with everyone in the first place, then you wouldn't have shared in the profits in the first place. Whether or not I was the one to discover it, it didn't do a whole lot of good to keep it hidden. I mainly do it for the thrill, and loading up on the shards for my friends. Ultimately I hope it creates a slew of better warriors since unlike the griffons and 55 monks it actually takes time to understand the fundamentals of it all. Watching your aggro, when to heal... it's an excellent tutorial as well as a nice farming spot.
As a side note, zoom in to the first person like view and look at the chests first. If they're purple, don't open them. The consensus from some players I've talked to is that they will only drop purple items if they're that colour. I have a screenshot which I'll post later so you can be on the lookout for them.
And again, thanks for all the positive feedback and I hope everyone continues to enjoy this.

The times I have been killed is when a skale gets to close while I am engaging driftwoods, then I pretty much know it's over lol. I am standing outside the tunnel right now though, so all I had to do was get familiar with the safe spots and avoiding skales while fighting driftwoods

it's important not to aggro any of the skales, as that will ensure your death if you are also fighting other things (most times, even if you're not). sometimes, it's good to just sit at the safe spots and watch the skale movements for a while. once you have figured out their patrol areas, decide on your route.
if you're having trouble at the entrance, you can let the shadows fight the driftwood/dryders/skales. i found out by accident as i had a pretty bad spawn on one run. when i decided to just gun it and run in, i found them fighting each other, leaving me free.
on another note, i will confirm that the run is doable with a hammer. however, i won't bother posting the build because it takes a lot longer and is more trouble than it's worth. you also have to be a lot more careful since you are missing 16 AL from a shield and attack slower. the general strategy is the same anyway, with a few skills switched for the appropriate weapon. i did it for fun, but those who do it for farming are better off using a sword or axe.
i also tried "i will survive" and it turned out pretty well. it's a good skill to halt the degen for a bit.
next up: figure out how to kill the skales. care to join, ract?

I mean that sometimes the skales totally block the route and there is no way to get past them without dying. But i guess i just have to outrun them.

i, and at LEAST 2 of my guildies are going to try and develop this part, we will need to know such things as hex stack order, level of the cast of hexes, hp&al of skales. when we get this, it will be possible to come up with a build for skale soloing
p.s. -> couldnt you take out evis and put in spell breaker (yes it will take longer to farm, but will get rid of the degen hexes AND cost less energy than spamming hex breaker)... just a thought
p.p.s -> do i smell invinci-war complete fow soloing? (after the skale remedy of course )
EDIT:

sprint through them to a safe spot, it will also help after you kill the first 2 (one regular one pulled) sets of snarlings and the first dryder if you sit and watch the skale movements for about 5 minutes, and plan your point of attack

This picture is from a while back from a thread in the screenshot exposition. I covered up the skill tab because at that time I was keeping the build hidden. I can assure you however, that the skills on the tab are identical to what I posted here.

Now, Racthoh, I'm sure this is a very good tactic but I would very much like you to answer one question: Am I supposed to kill skales or not?
I wasted close to 4 plats, thinking I was to kill skales, but I kept on dying at the entrance. I know not to fight 2 groups at one time, but 3 skales kill me utterly. I couldn't even get one to 50% health without dying.
So am I just supposed to run past them?

i don't doubt that you can take the skales out with the current build, and the ss proves that you actually can. i guess my question would be how consistently do you do it?
i've always ended my runs with the skales. each time, i can last a bit longer but the degen eventually catches up to me. i may just be timing my heals improperly. a few more tries might help me get the timing right.
